The New Four Food Groups

When I first started really learning about the benefits of plant-based whole food diets (just a few short weeks ago) and how just how unhealthy processed food is, it left me wondering how it could possibly be true. I mean, if it is THAT important, why isn’t haven’t I seen or heard this before? Then I realized that there is lots of information out there – I’ve just been oblivious to it.

One of the things I’ve stumbled upon recently is The New Four Food Groups created by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. The New Four Food Groups is comprised of fruit, legumes, whole grains, and vegetables and although they set minimum requirements for each group, guess what? There is no maximum limit! It also recommends taking a vitamin B-12 supplement or eating foods that have been fortified with B-12.

Is this all sounding familiar? That’s probably because T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study, is on the organization’s advisory board.
