Freshii Juice Cleanse – Nutritional Information

When I started the Freshii juice cleanse, I was able to find nutritional information for the salad and three of the four juices on their website. To get the information on the last juice, Carrot Zinger, I emailed eat@freshii.com. They replied in less that 24 hours with the following document.

Freshii Juice Cleanse Nutrition Info

I’ve added up the nutritional info for one day’s worth of the juices and salad in the table below.

I’ve noticed, however, that the nutritional information listed on their website is different than the document the nutritionist at Freshii emailed to me. The table below shows the discrepancies between the total nutrition of the Green Energy juice, Might Detox juice, Red Power juice, and Metaboost Salad. I left the Carrot Zinger out of the comparison since the information wasn’t available on the website. Please feel free to check my math.

Many of the differences shown above are pretty significant. I was especially annoyed that the amount of calories I was consuming was about 300 less than what I thought (1135+estimated 150 calories for the Carrot Zinger juice vs 990 calories).

I replied back to the nutritionist asking why the information she provided and the information on the website varied so much. She answered:

Our menu and recipes are constantly updated, and therefore nutritional information can change. We are currently in the process of re-analyzing and updating our nutritional information for our website. Stay tuned! The nutritional information I sent you is current & updated.

It seems like Freshii is not taking this juice cleanse seriously. They need to provide information, and correct information, so people considering trying it can make an informed decision and do it properly. Handing a customer four numbered juices and a salad is not enough.

I’m a little disappointed in the execution but I do think it is a really great concept for a healthy fast food chain to offer a juice cleanse. The price isn’t bad and it’s waaaaay easier than doing it yourself. Juicing is a ton of work! I hope if they continue to offer the cleanse (it’s currently a promotional item) that they put more time and effort into making information accessible.

Freshii Juice Cleanse – Day 3

The final day! Hooray!

I fell asleep on the couch watching TV last night but moved to my bed around 10:00pm. I slept until 6:30am when I finally dragged myself out of bed. Jesse cruelly brewed very aromatic coffee which I couldn’t drink.

When I got to work I drank my first juice, Green Energy. Around 11:00am I drank the second juice, Carrot Zinger … and boy was it zingy! They seemed to have put way more ginger in it this time!

Just after noon, I got my first real hunger pangs since starting the cleanse. Due to my planned 10k run tonight, I decided that I would supplement my cleanse again today with some healthy, whole foods. I picked up a bag of a plain nut and seed mix which I grazed on throughout the day, as well as some herbal tea.

I drank my third juice, Might Detox, around 1:00pm and my salad around 3:00pm. I got home from work around 5:00pm and decided I needed some more calories before my run so I ate some nuts, dried fruit, and and a spoonful of honey.

After a mix up with the car schedule, I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to make it to the group run on time. It was dark and rainy so I didn’t want to run around my sketchy neighbourhood alone either.

Sad that I had sabotaged the juice cleanse for a run I didn’t end up doing, I carried on to eat a bunch of Pringles that I had been thinking about the last few days. Oops! I washed it down with my last Red Power juice.

I fell asleep on the couch while Jesse watched Game of Thrones again. Hadley was frightened by the sound of crows and snuggled on the couch with us.

Freshii Juice Cleanse – Day 2

I went to bed early last night, around 8:00pm, and slept like a baby. I even woke up around 10:00pm, moved my laundry from the washer to the dryer, and fell back asleep after reading about two pages of my book. My alarm went off at 5:45am and I hit sleep a few times but still got up before 6:30am.

My co-worker, who is also doing the 3-day cleanse, had already picked up my juices for me when I arrived at work. I drank my Green Energy juice right away, around 8:00am.

She had also borrowed a sign from the store with the instructions and FAQ. I still find that the cleanse is really lacking in nutritional information and rationale. Why do you eat the salad last? Why these specific juices? Why this order?

Freshii Juice Cleanse Instructions

Freshii Juice Cleanse

The following information is from the Freshii sign shown above.

Pre-cleanse: In the days preceding your cleanse, limit your intake of alcohol, caffeine, processed foods and refined sugars. Increase the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet to help jump-start the cleansing process.

Cleanse: Start each morning of the cleanse with a glass of warm lemon water. Drink juices every 2.5-3 hours apart and end your day with a detoxifying salad.

  1. Green Energy
  2. Carrot Zinger
  3. Mighty Detox
  4. Red Power
  5. Metaboost Salad

Drink 8-10 glasses of water throughout the day in addition to the Freshii juices.

Strenuous exercise should be avoided due to reduced calorie intake, but moderate exercise is beneficial and highly recommended. Try light yoga, walking or stretching.

If you feel hungry during your cleanse, increase the amount of water you are drinking throughout the day. Herbal teas are also allowed. If you must eat something, reach for raw or lightly cooked fruits and vegetables. Listen to your body and do what feels right for you.

Post-cleanse: No information found. However, I did find a blog post which contains a response from a Freshii nutritionist on this subject here.

I felt tired and lethargic for most of the morning. At 11:00am, I drank the Carrot Zinger juice and then went for a short, slow 4k run at noon. I felt a little depleted plus was still feeling the effects of my back-to-back long runs on the weekend. My back has been a little sore this week (I sit all day at work plus during my commute) which reminded me that I need to do yoga more frequently and consistently. After my run, I ate my Metaboost salad.

I drank my Might Detox juice before I left work. I decided that it would be a good idea to make another salad for dinner since this cleanse doesn’t account for exercise. I used spinach, a bell pepper, and some sesame and sunflower seeds with balsamic and oil dressing. Honestly, salad has never tasted so good! I drank my Red Power juice around 7:00pm and ate a handful of nuts before bed.
