This week’s NP Pledge workout fell on Canada Day! How awesome is that!?

We all met at 6:29 near the conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park decked out in red and white. I brought my fiance, Jesse, out for his very first November Project experience! We picked up another avid NP-er who needed a ride and carpooled into Vancouver together.

There was excessive amounts of hugging, awkward hugging, and high fives. As a non-hugger, this was my “social workout” for the week. Then began the physical workout! We jumped, stomped, “hoistie!”-ed, ran, and crawled, burpee-ed, pushup-ed, and squatted.

It was great to see so many new faces join the group on Canada Day. After the workout, we made a tunnel with our arms and the newbies ran through it. Honestly, I could barely hold my arms up at that point! I knew that my arms would be sore the next day (as usual) and I was right! I’m also feeling it my glutes.

Winner of this week’s “Mountain Sexual” award!

The next NP Pledge workout is at 6:29am on Wednesday, July 8 at Queen Elizabeth Park (by the conservatory)! See you there!

It’s a bit of a long story but due to extenuating circumstances, I slept in this morning and missed the NP Pledge workout. Although I was disappointed, it did allow me to catch up on some well-needed and deserved sleep. I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world!

Since the Science World location is on my way to work, I stopped by and snapped a couple photos, said hi to my NP peeps, and even met a new friend. Turns out that watching people workout is the next best thing to actually working out. You can feed off their energy and positivity while enjoying a coffee. So if you are injured, want to do some reconnaissance, or are just passing by, you should definitely say hi and grab a few high fives!

The next NP Pledge workout is at 6:29am on Wednesday, July 1 at Queen Elizabeth Park! No, we don’t take holidays! This is a great opportunity to bring out all your friends and family who usually can’t make the early morning workouts due to work, school, or other commitments. It’ll be a great way to kick off your Canada Day!

What is November Project?

November Project™ is a FREE fitness movement that was born in Boston as a way to stay in shape during cold New England months. Now present in multiple cities in across four time zones in North America, the movement is using a simple sense of accountability (verbal) to motivate and encourage people of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels to get out of their beds and get moving. Our members vary from Olympic medalists, professional athletes, marathoners, triathletes, current and former collegiate athletes all the way to complete fitness rookies and recent couch potatoes just looking to kickstart their healthy life choices. If you think that you’re not fit enough to join the group, stop thinking and come see what the fuss is all about.

How can you join? Simple… Just show up!

The Vancouver pledge meets every Wednesday at 6:29am rain or shine!!! The best way to keep in touch is to join this Facebook community, check out my November Project Vancouver Pledge page, and read my latest November Project posts.

I attended last Wednesday’s event (May 20, 2015) along with 80-something other people and it was really amazing. First off, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a hug. There was construction happening in the plaza so everyone was being directed down the stairs to the seawall. At the bottom, there was a group gathered around one of the group’s leaders, Graham Snowden. We all huddled in close and started bouncing while the latecomers filtered in.

We then formed lines and ran (forwards and backwards), inchwormed, and high kicked our way along the seawall stopping to applaud cyclists and collectively tell pedestrians they are beautiful. It’s as much a social exercise as it is a fitness exercise! We were encouraged to introduce yourself to others participants and make friends. High fives are mandatory! Well, maybe not mandatory … but definitely strongly encouraged!

The rest of the workout involved jumping up stairs, pushups, step ups with highknees, planks, planks, and more planks! The workout ended as any good workout does, a victory photo! No smiles allowed as per November Project tradition and because we are BADASS!

If this seems intimidating to you, I assure you it is not. Everyone is very positive and all fitness levels are welcome so tell all your friends and come check it out! You will be happy you did!
